NEW YORK— Subaru Corp. unveiled its new electric vehicle model, the Trailseeker, at the 2025 New York International Auto Show in New York on Wednesday, and is considering potentially producing it in the United States in the future. The five-seat SUV, which was developed in cooperation with Toyota Motor Corp., will be Subaru’s second mass-produced EV model. Production of the vehicle, which will be exported to the U.S. and other markets, is slated to begin in 2026 at Subaru’s Gunma Prefecture plant.

WASHINGTON – Japan and the United Sates confirmed on Wednesday that they will aim for an early agreement in over the tariff measures implemented by the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump. They also agreed to hold their next ministerial-level talks by the end of this month. Economic revitalization minister Ryosei Akazawa, who was visiting Washington to negotiate over the tariff measures, met with Trump at the White House for about 50 minutes.

NEW YORK — The New York market saw a stronger yen and declining stock prices on Friday due to concerns over the future of the U.S. economy. The yen temporarily rose to the 148 range against the dollar. This represented the strongest yen and the weakest dollar in about two and a half months. LAS VEGAS — Toyota Motor Corp. will launch Woven City, a demonstration city for advanced technology being constructed in Susono, Shizuoka Prefecture, as early as this autumn, it was announced on Monday. Five companies including Daikin Industries, Ltd. and Nissin Food Products Co. will join the project to conduct demonstration experiments. They will work together across industry boundaries to develop advanced technologies and services that will be useful for daily life.
