Introduction Coronary artery disease causes 8.9 million patient deaths and 264 million workforce losses annually (1). Among the various manifestations of coronary artery disease, ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) is the most severe type characterized by rapid onset, progression, and high morbidity and mortality (2). Fortunately, the availability of thrombolytic therapy and primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) has significantly improved STEMI patients' prognosis.
