Key PointsQuestion How does urate-lowering therapy (ULT) affect the progression of chronic kidney disease (CKD) in patients with gout and impaired kidney function? Findings This cohort study including 14 792 patients with gout and CKD stage 3 found that lowering serum urate level to less than 6 mg/dL using ULT was not associated with a higher risk of severe or end-stage kidney disease progression compared with those who did not achieve this level with ULT.
