ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Summer arrived on a very dry and warm note. As a ridge of high pressure builds across the region, the daily dose of showers and storms are cut-off with no disturbances moving into SGA. For the first weekend of summer, other than a passing shower or two dry conditions prevail with summer heat and humidity. Highs top low-mid 90s with heat indices upper 90s to 100°. This kicks off a long stretch of real summer conditions into next week.

ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - This active summer weather pattern shows signs of letting go but not until next week. This week scattered showers and storms have arrived during the afternoon and extended through the evening. Expect the next round Friday afternoon. We’re under the influence of the Bermuda High which allows a southwest flow of Gulf moisture into SGA. Not only does it bring tropical rain but also higher humidity. It’s definitely feeling like summer which officially begins in about a week.
