1. IntroductionA lime-sand pile is a pile made of a mixture of three materials, namely lime, sand, and soil, which have a high degree of water absorption. When the lime-sand pile absorbs water, the quicklime in it undergoes a hydration reaction and is converted into calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)2). This process absorbs water and generates a lot of heat.
