1. IntroductionViral hepatitis is a global health concern, with 325 million people living with it. It caused 1.34 million deaths in 2015 [1], mostly from hepatitis B virus (HBV) and hepatitis C virus (HCV). HBV and HCV resulted in 1.1 million deaths in 2020 [2]. Globally, 2 billion people are infected with HBV [3] and approximately 58 million people live with a chronic hepatitis C infection [4]. For the 296 million people infected with HBV chronically, only approximately 10% were diagnosed [5].
