This study used data from the Korean Genome and Epidemiology Study (KoGES), a prospective community-based cohort. The cohort consists of 10,030 men and women aged 40–69 years old, living in Ansan (an urban community) and Anseong (a rural community). A follow-up study has been conducted there biannually from 2001 [16]. Quality-controlled spirometry results were first obtained during the 2nd follow-up.
