1. Introduction Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS) is a devastating disease that results in reproductive failure in sows and respiratory problems in pigs of all ages, leading to significant economic repercussions worldwide [1]. Since it was initially reported in 1996, PRRS has been spreading within mainland China for over 20 years [2]. PRRS virus (PRRSV) is an enveloped, positive-sense, single-stranded RNA virus belonging to the Arteriviridae family, Nidovirales order.
