1 Introduction Esophageal cancer is the eighth most prevalent malignancy and the sixth leading cause of cancer-related mortality worldwide [1]. China exhibits a notably high incidence of esophageal cancer, contributing to nearly half of the global incidence and mortality rates [2]. The common pathological types of esophageal cancer are esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) and esophageal adenocarcinoma, with ESCC accounting for 85.79% of all esophageal cancer cases in China [3].
