Stakeholders in the security architecture of Kogi State have insisted that the cattle markets in Iyara, Okehi, Egbe, and Kabba will remain closed indefinitely until the security situation in those communities improves.
Retired Commander Jerry Omodara, the security adviser to Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, announced this after a meeting with the Fulani community and delegations from Iyara and Ijumu Local Government Areas, held at the State Command of the Nigerian Police.

A Kogi State High Court sitting in Lokoja has granted the request by Muhammad Gambo, the second runner-up in the Kogi State congress of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) held on August 31, 2024, to be joined in the suit.
The court has equally accepted a notice of appeal filed by Gambo in the suit challenging the chairmanship position of the Kogi PDP. In its sitting on Monday, Justice Yahaya Adamu of High Court 5 granted the suit for joinder and the notice of appeal by Gambo.

Kogi State High Court, sitting in Lakoja on Thursday, has granted a stay of execution over the last judgement on the case of the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland.
The court also ordered the maintenance of status quo in the case of Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, Ahmed-Anaje, who was sacked on February 3. Justice Umar Salisu of High Court VI, gave the order on Wednesday following an application for stay of execution on his earlier judgement that removed Anaje as Ohinoyi of Ebiraland.

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Chief Sylvester Onoja, has warned the federal government against scrapping the 6-3-3-4 system of education in Nigeria.
Onoja SAN, a Fellow of the National Teachers Institute, said the proposed scrapping of the 6-3-3-4 education system in favour of a 12-year basic education model could create more problems than it seeks to solve.

The registration of intending pilgrims for the 2025 Hajj operations has been extended by two weeks, the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has announced.
The registration was initially scheduled to close at midnight on January 30, 2025. The new deadline of February 14, 2025, was announced by Sheikh Ahmed Abdulmumini, who led the NAHCON team on a tour of state pilgrims’ commissions to Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, on Wednesday.
