Stakeholders in the security architecture of Kogi State have insisted that the cattle markets in Iyara, Okehi, Egbe, and Kabba will remain closed indefinitely until the security situation in those communities improves. Retired Commander Jerry Omodara, the security adviser to Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, announced this after a meeting with the Fulani community and delegations from Iyara and Ijumu Local Government Areas, held at the State Command of the Nigerian Police.

A Kogi State High Court sitting in Lokoja has granted the request by Muhammad Gambo, the second runner-up in the Kogi State congress of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) held on August 31, 2024, to be joined in the suit. The court has equally accepted a notice of appeal filed by Gambo in the suit challenging the chairmanship position of the Kogi PDP. In its sitting on Monday, Justice Yahaya Adamu of High Court 5 granted the suit for joinder and the notice of appeal by Gambo.
