    PORT SHELDON TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A 9-year-old student brought a gun to school and showed it off to classmates on the bus, according to Ottawa County Sheriff's Office. The student, who attends West Ottawa Public Schools, allegedly took the gun to school on May 1, displaying it on the bus that day. Days later that same student brought ammunition on the bus. Detectives determined there was no danger to students or staff; the gun was likely not loaded at the time.

    KALAMAZOO, Mich. — A 29-year-old man has been convicted in the shooting death of another man from Kalamazoo in 2023. Liborio Valdez II was found guilty on multiple charges tied to the death of Kavonta Martin. Valdez's conviction includes charges of manslaughter, armed robbery, felon in possession of a firearm, and the use of a firearm in commission of a felony. Back on April 4, 2023, Valdez tried to rob Martin while inside his car on Little Drive.

    KENTWOOD, Mich. — Police arrested four people after multiple shots were fired inside a Kentwood neighborhood Monday afternoon. Officers responded to Carriage Hill Drive, near the intersection of 60th Street and Kalamazoo Avenue around 1 p.m. on May 5. They found several casings on the ground and bullet holes in objects surround the scene. No one was hit by a bullet, but one person was hurt when their car was hit by a vehicle involved in the shots that rang out.

    SPENCER TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Several high school students were hurt when their school bus crashed when the driver suffered some kind of medical incident. It happened about 3:10 p.m. near the intersection of Lincoln Lake Avenue and 17 Mile Road in Kent County's Spencer Township. The driver had a medical episode while behind the wheel, according to the Kent County Sheriff's Office, sending the bus off the road and into a tree.
