    BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — A reported fight during the early morning hours put one man in the hospital with stab wounds, and another in jail on charges of attempted murder. The fight happened on 23rd Street Street just north of Iroquois Avenue in Battle Creek, according to police. The 20-year-old who was stabbed tried to make it to the hospital on his own, but an ambulance found him and drove him the rest of the way. That victim was most recently listed in critical condition.

    GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A major step in one of the biggest construction projects in West Michigan is set to happen in under a week. The groundbreaking for the new soccer stadium in Grand Rapids is now scheduled for Tuesday, April 22. The stadium, which will sit just north of the the David D. Hunting YMCA on Winter Avenue, is expected to host a professional soccer club. The current proposal would have 8,500 seats with a total capacity of 11,000 fans.

    GRANDVILLE, Mich. — A man was hurt during a house fire early Wednesday morning, but was able to escape from his home on his own. The Grandville Fire Department responded to the home on Earle Avenue SW just before 3 a.m. on April 16 for the fire. Firefighters found part of the living room burning, but put out the flames in roughly ten minutes. The 68-year-old living there made it to a neighbor's home on his own, but had burns serious enough to send him to the hospital.

    GAINES TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A house took serious damage in a fire that appeared to have started in the attached garage. The next-door neighbor first reported the fire around 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday, according to the Gaines Township Fire Department. Everyone inside was able to escape safely. Firefighters shut down 76th Street for roughly 3 hours to run hoses across the road to fire hydrants. The cause of the fire and the damage caused have not been determined.

The 35-year-old was convicted of conspiracy to distribute 5 or more kilograms of cocaine and other drug-related charges back in November.
