    The LA Kings announced today that Ken Holland has been named as the team’s new Vice President and General Manager. And, thus, the worst-kept secret in hockey has been confirmed, with Holland in Southern California today to meet with staff and to be formally presented tomorrow morning. Holland, 69, joins the Kings after most recently serving as the President & General Manager of the Edmonton Oilers through 2024.

    One more for the World Championships. As he did last season, Kings forward Kevin Fiala is a late addition for Team Switzerland, linking up with his teammates earlier today in advance of their third game of the tournament. Switzerland skated to a victory and an overtime defeat in its first two games of the tournament, collecting four points, with Fiala joining the team in advance of today’s game against the United States, which includes Kings prospect Hampton Slukynsky as the third goaltender.

    The 2025 IIHF World Championships are underway as of this morning in Denmark and Sweden, with Kings forward Phillip Danault, along with LA Kings prospects Martin Chromiak and Hampton Slukynsky competing in the event. The tournament is split between the two countries this season, with Stockholm, Sweden and Herning, Denmark each hosting games during pool play. Group A will be contested entirely in Sweden, while Group B will be contested in Denmark.
