Joint venture Cyclyx will expand its all-plastic collection inside and outside of Houston, Texas, following a final investment decision for its planned plastic sorting plant in the city. Cyclyx last week said its Houston plastic waste processing plant is projected to begin producing bales in mid-2025. The company is evaluating and discussing locations for its second plant, Cyclyx told Argus, but has not yet made an announcement.

Florida-based polypropylene (rPP) recycler Purecycle has sent out its first shipments of recycled resin after a force majeure and months of delay during construction. Purecycle, which has built its first recycling plant in Ironton, Ohio, says its unique solvent-based recycling technology allows the company to create rPP that has properties closer to virgin material. Purecycle said they have recycled 409,000 lbs, or 204.5t, of used polypropylene so far at its Ironton plant.

Published date: 08 November 2023 Swiss-based packaging company Amcor will offtake flexible recycled polyethylene (rPE) from Canadian-based Nova Chemicals upon the completion of its US recycled plastic facility. The offtake agreement will allow Amcor to purchase flexible rPE in 2025, when Nova's mechanical recycling facility in Connersville, Indiana, is expected to begin production.

US Industrial Technologies (USIT) manages waste streams for auto manufacturers in addition to municipal waste streams. The company is headquartered in Livonia, Michigan, and has a second location in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Germany-based recycler Revalyu has begun building a new PET recycling facility in the US later than expected, leading to a delay in the facility's projected startup. The $200mn project in Statesboro, Georgia, will use glycolysis to recycle as much as 200mn lb/yr (90,000 t/yr) of PET, Revalyu said. It will be the company's first US recycling plant. The ground breaking occurred last week rather than in the first-half of the year as the company expected in February.
