A former Tennessee Vols baseball standout was included in a major MLB trade rumor this weekend. Former Vols RHP Blade Tidwell, who made his MLB debut earlier this month with the New York Mets, was mentioned by USA Today's Bob Nightengale as a player that could be included in a trade for Chicago White Sox outfielder Luis Robert Jr. Nightengale reported that the Mets, who could use another power bat in their lineup, recently checked in the White Sox about a potential deal for Robert.

Former Tennessee Vols quarterback Hendon Hooker, the 2022 SEC offensive player of the year, is entering his third season in the NFL. And he's attempted a grand total of nine passes. Hooker, a third round selection by the Detroit Lions in the 2023 NFL Draft, turned 27 years old in January. It's unlikely that he's going to receive an opportunity in Detroit to earn a key role (the Lions don't seem to even like Hooker as a backup option to starter Jared Goff).

There's a permanent lineup change that New York Mets manager Carlos Mendoza needs to make that's long overdue. The Mets currently have three positions in their lineup that are filled by the same guys every single day -- Francisco Lindor at shortstop, Pete Alonso at first base, and Juan Soto in right field. Mark Vientos is holding down third base most nights and Brandon Nimmo starts most games in left field (Vientos and Nimmo get a day off more often than the three names mentioned above).

Former Tennessee Vols basketball star Grant Williams spent the first four years of his NBA career with the Boston Celtics before getting traded to the Dallas Mavericks and then the Charlotte Hornets. Williams commented this week on the Celtics' struggles in the NBA playoffs against the New York Knicks, which led to some fans speculating that the former Vol wishes he was back in Boston (instead of with the bottom feeder Hornets).

The Buffalo Bills lost their chance to land a potential big-time hidden gem thanks to the quick action of the Green Bay Packers. Earlier this week, Green Bay signed Canadian quarterback Taylor Elgersma after the University of Wilfrid Laurier product had a successful rookie minicamp tryout.

Of course money plays a factor. But where and how it ranks as a factor is different for every athlete. Every single situation is unique. It’s not black and white. And speculating on how much of a factor it is for a player is a waste of time. Only that athlete truly knows anyway.

Miami fans went insane yesterday because NIL played a part in Jackson Cantwell's recruitment and we spoke about it. Here's a clip from the 10-minute rant I had about it on today's show. https://t.co/n292PgtoHa

This is such a dumb take. And not bc I care about arguing about the status of Vandy or UT as baseball programs, but bc we should want these series to be intense rivalries. That’s exactly what makes college sports so great/compelling. Why would you want to diminish that aspect?

Not a rivalry https://t.co/EBBol7TMpM

One of the wildest stunt doubles of all time 😂

"And now give it some razzle dazzle." Looking back on this hilarious commercial with Michael Jordan and his mom as we celebrate Mother's Day 😂 MJ learned from the best! https://t.co/syCQl1N9rB
