    A preschool had to be evacuated after a vehicle up against the building caught on fire Friday, April 11. Several fire departments responded to the Learning Village Early Childhood Development Center, located at 100 Dear Creek Rd. in Clinton Township, after reports a vehicle caught fire outside of the building. The fire was put out by 5:15 p.m. Around 4:42 p.m., there was a heavy fire up against the building, according to Butler County emergency services dispatch.

    The Federal Bureau of Investigation said Friday, April 11, that its activity in Butler Township earlier this week is part of an ongoing investigation, but no other information was provided. An FBI SWAT team and the Butler Township Police Department responded to the 600 block of Morton Avenue Wednesday, April 9, closing a portion of the road for a short time. The FBI in its Friday statement said it could not provide additional comment on the reason for its response to a house in the area.

    CENTER TWP — Center Township’s board of supervisors is eyeing several future land developments, though it will not be purchasing land from the Clearview Mall anytime soon. Chairman Philip Wulff said at the board’s April 9 meeting he approached the owners of the mall about the possibility of buying roughly three acres on a corner lot of the property, behind Giant Eagle, for potential future use — such as a hypothetical future township building.

    An elementary school teacher at Knoch School District is accused of hitting an 8-year-old boy in the face, according to state police. Police plan to charge Carly Miller, 35, of Allison Park, with simple assault and harassment following a Nov. 26 incident, according to a Thursday news release. Miller is currently suspended, according to the district. Miller is a second- and third-grade learning support teacher at the Knoch Primary School, according to previous Butler Eagle reports.

    ADAMS TWP — Mars Area School District is making progress toward completing a new set of tennis courts and beginning construction on the elementary school renovation project. Mars’ school board approved a construction bid for the tennis courts Tuesday, April 8, totaling $537,600. The bid went to Dun Rite Construction and Paving, LLC. The school board also approved a bid of $101,400 for electrical work around the tennis courts, awarding it to Westmoreland Electrical Group.
