On June 3, 2019, the Sudanese Transitional Military Council’s armed forces used gunfire and tear gas to disperse peaceful sit-in demonstrators camped in the center of Sudan’s capital, Khartoum. During the action, paramilitary troops killed more than 100 civilians and injured several others.

On June 28, 1967—just two weeks after Israel invaded East Jerusalem and brought the entire city under its rule—Hebrew University held a ceremony at its Mt. Scopus amphitheater, overlooking the newly occupied Palestinian neighborhoods below. State and military leaders joined university administrators for the festive occasion, in which Hebrew University awarded Chief of Staff Yitzhak Rabin an honorary doctorate.
