The Rapid City Firefighter Challenge Team is in Nashville for the World Championships, which started on Monday and go until Saturday. On Wednesday, Firefighter Morgan Helton received a new Division 2 Under 40 Female world record with a time of 2:35.73.

    RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - The Black Hills National Forest is proposing changes to off-season recreational fees, set to go in place next fall. Increased off-season usage has led to higher maintenance costs, prompting the fee proposal. The National Forest says the revenue from the fee increase will be used to improve facilities and services. Picnic sites and day-use areas, which originally were free to use, would now have a $5 fee. Off-season campground fees would rise from $10 to $15.

    RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - The South Dakota Unified Judicial System is warning the public about a phone and email scam in which scammers pretend to be law enforcement. These scammers are making up claims that the victim has missed jury duty or owes fines and will be arrested if they don’t pay. People are reminded to never give personal information or money if they receive a call or email about jury duty, the courts send summons to people over the mail, not by phone or email.

    RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - The Air Force has plans to relocate 17 B-1 Bombers from Ellsworth to Grand Forks Air Force Base in North Dakota. The temporary move would last 10 months starting February of next year, allowing Ellsworth to renovate its runway as they prepare for the arrival of the B-21 Raiders. After Ellsworth was chosen as the initial operating base and training unit for the B-21′s, the base started construction on a new 95,000-square-foot Low Observable Restoration Facility in 2022.
