For as long as I can remember, I’ve been the one who cares first and more. I’ve been the one who checks in, who asks how you’re really doing, who stays up thinking about how to fix something that might not even be broken. I always believed love was about effort. So I gave, and gave, and gave. I was available. Always. And maybe, in the beginning, that felt noble. That kind of love, the one that shows up no matter what, felt like strength. But eventually, I started to notice a quiet, creeping ache.
