The Tracker’s latest Vehicle Crime Index (VCI) for the fourth quarter of 2024 indicate business vehicle hijacking become increasingly targeted by vehicle theft crime syndicates. Tracker’s VCI aggregates information from the company’s over 1.1 million subscriptions. The security firm’s vehicle crime statistics for July to December 2024 highlight motor vehicle hijackings comprise 56% of all vehicle crime incidents in South Africa, while theft accounts for 44%.

Chacklas pool team thrashed Stillwaters Pool squad 4-1 in the final match to champion the Vosloorus Tavern Owners Pool Association (VTOPA) tournament on home turf held at Chacklas Tavern on November 3. Five teams competed in the tournament. The VTOPA tournament commenced with Chacklas defeating Mdu’s Pool Tavern squad 4-3 to advance to the semi-finals. In another encounter, Stillwaters humiliated Mtobho 4-0 to advance to the semi-finals.

The City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) Mayor Nkosindiphile Xhakaza is leading by example as he calls for donors in the resumption of Ekurhuleni’s bursary scheme, which had become inactive over the past years. He pledged R50 000 during the Mayoral Golf Day on Thursday at Glendower Golf Club at Edenvale. The mayor joined individuals and businesses who opened their purses pouring into the re-surging bursary fund, which has collected over R8m in just a few days.
