    Today, Sunday World can reveal that the South African Music Industry Council (Samic), which claims to represent the South African music industry, has been deregistered due to non-compliance. Samic was registered with the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC) in June 2019. A source disclosed that the council is not even listed as a non-profit organisation (NPO) with the Department of Social Development.

    The Department of Sports, Arts, and Culture has apologised and finally approved payment for kwaito legend Winnie Khumalo’s funeral. The funds were authorised on April 15, about three months after Khumalo’s funeral took place at the Protea South Multipurpose Hall in Soweto on January 18. In an email to the Khumalo family, the department apologised for the delay and assured them that the funds would be paid in the current financial year.

The building in question is located at number 20 De Korte Street in Braamfontein, Johannesburg. These board members, who preferred to remain anonymous, told Sunday World that the matter was extensively discussed during a recent board meeting.
