    A dramatic scene played out in New York in January at the American Historical Association’s annual conference. Raucous debates were held over a “Resolution to Oppose Scholasticide in Gaza,” which overwhelmingly passed (428-88). The passing of the resolution, which condemned the destruction of schools and universities and the killing of teachers and professors in Gaza, was met by jubilation from academics on social media.
