Helsingin Sanomat follows up on its previous reporting on pickpockets in Helsinki's tourist areas, this time with a reporter witnessing a theft in real time. The paper trailed three pickpockets operating in downtown Helsinki, with the reporter recording the moment a woman's backpack was emptied of passports and a wallet. Last December HS reported on professional pickpockets operating in Helsinki. Now, as the summer season begins, the situation appears to have changed once again.

Helsingin Sanomat hears from a 39-year-old woman who admits she lied to get into the publicly funded infertility treatment queue. The rules call for couples trying to conceive for at least a year before contacting health services, but waits can be long, and the cutoff is at age 40. Instead of waiting, the woman got in the queue almost immediately after her partner agreed to have a child.

Data centres in Finland are once again making headlines, as an investigation by Helsingin Sanomat has uncovered evidence that real estate investor Hyperco is planning to build a new one in Espoo. The Dubai-based company has already drawn public scrutiny over its earlier-announced project in Kouvola, after it was revealed that the Chinese-owned social media platform TikTok is expected to become a user of the facility.
