AbstractIon exchange membranes are semi-permeable thin films allowing for selective transport of either anions or cations and have wide applications in desalination, wastewater treatment and energy conversion and storage. Poly(aryl piperidinium) polymers are promising materials for a new generation of anion exchange membranes with high chemical stability, although their ionic conductivity remains to be further improved.

Correction to: Nature Communications https://doi.org/10.1038/s41467-023-38350-7, published online 12 May 2023In Fig. 4d “Energy efficiency” data were incorrectly plotted and the arrows to indicate the corresponding y-axes were absent; the figure should have appeared as shown below. Additionally, in Fig. 6a the arrows indicating the directionality of species fluxes across the membrane were inadvertently reversed; the figure should have appeared as shown below. The original article has been corrected.

MaterialsP-Terphenyl, 1-methyl-4-piperidone, Trifluoroacetic acid (TFA), 4-Vinylbenzyl chloride (VBC), iodomethane (CH3I), trifluoromethanesulfonic acid (TFSA) were obtained from Energy Chemical. M-Terphenyl was purchased from Aladdin. Dichloromethane (CH2Cl2), potassium hydroxide (KOH), potassium carbonate (K2CO3), DMSO, sodium hydroxide (NaOH), sodium chloride (NaCl), and acetone were acquired from Sinopharm.
