AbstractThe intestine is a complex organ that promotes digestion, extracts nutrients, participates in immune surveillance, maintains critical symbiotic relationships with microbiota and affects overall health1. The intesting has a length of over nine metres, along which there are differences in structure and function2. The localization of individual cell types, cell type development trajectories and detailed cell transcriptional programs probably drive these differences in function.

Abstract Colloidal spheres in weakly conductive fluids roll back and forth across the surface of a plane electrode when subject to strong electric fields. The so-called Quincke oscillators provide a basis for active matter based on self-oscillating units that can move, align, and synchronize within dynamic particle assemblies. Here, we develop a dynamical model for oscillations of a spherical particle and investigate the coupled dynamics of two such oscillators in the plane normal to the field.

Abstract:Pulmonary embolism (PE) is a common and potentially fatal condition in the emergency department, and early identification of modifiable risk factors for prevention and management is highly desirable. Although gut dysbiosis is associated with a high incidence of venous thromboembolism, the role and mechanisms of the gut microbiome in the pathogenesis of venous thromboembolism, especially PE, remain unexplored.
