Cognitive impairment is common in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), patients with COPD comorbid with cognitive impairment can adversely affect self-management, medication adherence and quality of life. Although current literature has identified shared risk factors for both COPD and cognitive impairment, such as ageing, comorbidities and sleep disorders, the relationship between COPD and cognitive impairment has not yet been well described.
