Flexibility index: a general descriptor of polarization ability in crystalline materials Although optical phenomena in crystalline materials are different, they are all generated from polarization processes of microscopic structural units under photoelectric field. To develop the simple and effective model that is able to evaluate the polarization ability is crucial to the steps of structural screening and mechanism analysis in the research of optical materials.
