The 2024 Albert Lasker Basic Medical Research Award has been presented to Zhijian J. Chen, PhD, for the discovery of cyclic guanosine monophosphate–adenosine monophosphate synthase (cGAS), a DNA-sensing enzyme that triggers inflammation. Besides its widely known role as the blueprint of life, DNA is also highly immunogenic. In fact, the capacity of DNA to stimulate immune responses was recognized long before it was found to be the genetic material.

Pathway complexity in aqueous J-aggregation of an ionic BODIPY amphiphile A new amphiphilic boron-dipyrromethene (BODIPY) dye bearing a hydrophobic 2,3,4-tris (n-dodecyloxy) phenyl group at the meso-position and two hydrophilic cationic moieties at the boron was synthesized. This dye exhibited kinetic-controlled and thermodyanmic-controlled aggregation pathways in the aqueous solution, leading to the formation of two type of J-aggregates, i.e. the metastable Agg.

3. Results and Discussion 3.1. Analysis of Simulation DataThe above simulation model conducted simulation analysis based on the initial conditions. The simulation time was 10 s, and all other parameters were set at default values. The wheelbase of the residue-recalling machine was 2.9 m. Different heading deviations, speeds, and lateral deviations were given, and the simulation results are shown in Figure 12.
