Rice (Oryza sativa), a critical staple food, feeds more than half of the global population, particularly in Asia, where more than 90% of the world's rice crop is produced and consumed (Mu et al., 2019). Direct seeding of rice has been increasingly adopted over traditional transplanting, attributed to its sustainability benefits including reduced water usage, less labor inputs, and lower carbon emissions (Farooq et al., 2011; Kumar and Ladha, 2011).
