Tala appoints creative director

Wetherell was previously creative director at Boden from 2019 and 2022. Prior to that, he spent nine years at Net-A-Porter, first as art director since 2010 before becoming creative director in 2016. He has also worked as art director at fashion magazines including Esquire, GQ, Harpers Bazaar and InStyle. In his new role, Wetherell (pictured, left) will lead the marketing creative direction at Tala and report to CEO Morgan Fowles. The appointment comes ahead of the brand's international expansion.

Adanola founder considers stake sale to fund growth

Drapers understands Adanola has appointed advisers at professional services firm PwC to find prospective investors to accelerate its growth plans. Tom Copeland, partner of corporate finance at PwC, is believed to be leading the sale process. Copeland previously advised Gymshark on its minority stake sale to private equity firm General Atlantic in 2020, which valued the brand at more than £1bn.

Boohoo office sale stalls as bidder walks away

Drapers revealed in August that Boohoo Group was exploring a sale of its office building in London's Soho and discussions with prospective buyers were underway. According to The Telegraph, an Israeli property investor has abandoned plans to acquire the office in Soho for around £60m amid concerns raised by a survey. It comes as Boohoo Group is looking for ways to shore up its balance sheet ahead of a £47m debt repayment in August next year.
Frasers Group wins backing for mega HQ in West Midlands

Frasers Group's proposals for its new global headquarters have been recommended for approval by planning officers at Rugby Borough Council. The company first submitted its planning application in October 2023. The Rugby campus, spanning 3.3 million sq ft, is set to include a logistics area, offices and research and development departments, as well as a hotel and leisure facilities.
Mango founder Isak Andic dies in accident

Andic was hiking with his son and other family members on Saturday (14 December) when he fell down a ravine in the Montserrat mountain range outside Barcelona. The 71-year-old businessman turned Spanish retailer Mango into a global fashion powerhouse with annual sales of €3bn (£2.5bn), second in the Spanish fashion sector after Zara owner Inditex. Born in 1953 in Istanbul, he moved to Barcelona with his family when he was 14.
Boohoo Group cuts jobs at Manchester HQ

A consultation phase is underway with affected employees, which sources told Drapers is around 200 members of staff. It is understood the redundancies are spread across brands such as Boohoo and PrettyLittleThing, as well as job functions including buying, merchandising, design, marketing, analytics and tech. Affected employees range from those that have been with the business for more than 10 years, to new recruits who joined earlier this year. Boohoo Group declined to comment on the job cuts.
