California cities nearly covered all five spots in the Top 5 Most Polluted Cities when it comes to year-round particle pollution in the U.S., according to the American Lung Association. The American Lung Association released its annual State of the Air report on Wednesday, revealing almost half of all Americans – 156 million people – are breathing unhealthy levels of air pollution.

New state-of-the-art weather monitoring system will be online soon Has anyone noticed some weird/missing data from satellite imagery over the past few weeks? There's a reason for that! The old satellite that has been used for years is moving, with the most state-of-the-art satellite set to replace it. Basically, all of the images that are taken from space come from satellites, machines that are launched into space and orbit Earth, or another object and send back information.

There have been some solid rainfall totals this month across the South Bay, with drier-than-normal conditions across the North Bay.  Storm systems, or atmospheric rivers, in March, have been tracking farther south than in previous months, bringing San Jose above-average precipitation so far this month. Even though North Bay communities, like Santa Rosa, have seen rain basically every day for the last five days, it's been light rain, keeping below-average precipitation in place across the area.

It's been a very active rainy season across parts of the Bay Area, but it didn't start out that way. In fact, October was among the top driest months on records for many locations across the Bay Area. However, the weather whiplash quickly arrived in November when an extremely strong atmospheric river brought over a foot of rain to parts of the North Bay.

It's so much fun to use the virtual reality set @KPIXtv especially when talking about the microclimates of the Bay Area and fog! Fog will stick around the South Bay with clear skies elsewhere. Warmer highs return tomorrow and will stay warm through the rest of the week! https://t.co/bmfTsPImbs

It was SO nice to see rain across the Bay this morning - totals anywhere from 0.01-0.4"! But much drier, sunnier, and warmer weather is on the way after today. More typical spring weather will return mid to late week: fog and 60s along the coast with sun and 70/80s inland @KPIXtv https://t.co/fifPdJC7Za

Cooler, cloudier, windier, and wetter weather is in store to kick off this week across the Bay Area. The best chance to see rain will be Monday morning, drying out into the afternoon and evening. Highs will quickly warm into the mid week, so enjoy moisture while it lasts! @KPIXtv https://t.co/LTuYUAiuD6
