Fishing Trip Tragedy

A 62 year old Clarendon Vale man died in a boating mishap in the Fort Direction area at South Arm this morning. Large waves tipped over the boat which had engine failure. His neighbour, who was on the fishing trip and wearing a life jacket, managed to make his way to shore to raise the alarm, with Inspector Andrew Keane acknowledging circumstances could have been different.
Huonville Link Road Opens Monday

Daring Cape Hauy Rescue

Two climbers had to be rescued on the Tasman Peninsula because they had got stuck on the Totem Pole at Cape Huay. The climbers got stuck after their ropes became tangled in high winds at around 6pm last night (Wednesday) and they were unable to reach a safe place. Initial attempts to rescue the climbers by helicopter were unsuccessful due to the weather, the use of a police vessel also unsuccessful due to a dangerous swell.
