Ah, the old salad in a jar that went viral years ago. It’s been on my mind lately as I was contemplating a better quick lunch option for both David and me as a goal of mine for us lately is more produce and fiber. Protein I’ve pretty much had down, but I was noticing it was starting to come at the cost of veggies and quality fats, so I’ve modified our breakfasts and lunches to improve in these areas.

If ever a woman deserves a little love on her birthday, it’s my mom! How she’s walked through some of the hardest things life has to throw and still manages to emerge with a loving, generous, optimistic heart and a smile on her face is amazing. Amazing, but not surprising, as this is genuinely just who she is at her core.

Hello from Montana! We are currently immersed in the absolute beauty and long, winding runs of Big Sky. We’ve wanted to ski here for years and splurged on a cozy trailside cabin for the occasion, which is turning out to be even more incredible than we anticipated. I look forward to sharing it all with you, but until we return, check out this jaw dropping view of Lone Mountain! I was snapping a picture of David and the kids and a ski instructor came along and asked if I’d like to hop in the photo.

At one age does one stop using the 1/2 when referring to how old they are? For the sake of keeping things orderly in the archive of day in the life posts, I’m going to stick it out for a bit longer. These are my favorite posts to write because they are reminiscent of old school blogging days (with better pictures) and offer a peek into everyday life. I find the ordinary days when looked upon in retrospect often shine brighter than even the most incredible vacations. God bless these ordinary moments.

This recipe first appeared on my blog back in 2015, and 10 years later I decided it needed some better pictures and a dedicated recipe post because the old one sure didn’t look enticing and over the years (decade) I’ve made some minor changes. One thing remains the same though: this is an easy, set it and forget it recipe that everyone in the family enjoys. First of all- brisket. Immediately when I hear brisket I picture expensive, tender, smoked BBQ brisket.
