American Hockey League

The American Hockey League (AHL) is a professional ice hockey league that operates in both the United States and Canada, functioning as the main development league for the National Hockey League (NHL). Starting from the 2010–11 season, each AHL team has formed a partnership with an NHL team. If an NHL team lacks its own AHL affiliate, its players can be placed on AHL teams that have agreements with other NHL franchises. Out of the 32 teams in the league, 26 are situated in the United States, while 6 are based in Canada. The league's headquarters are found in Springfield, Massachusetts, and the current president is Scott Howson.
