As if we didn’t know this already, LAFC at home just hits different. If the black & gold could play half as well on the road as they do at home, then this might be a team that never loses. That said, it’s always great when you can turn home field from advantage, to outright fortress, as LAFC have done over their time in the MLS. This past Saturday, that fortress welcomed San Jose Earthquakes as the team returned to MLS action after getting eliminated in the Champions Cup.

After taking down Seattle Reign at home, and a brief International break, Angel City FC were on the road and back in NWSL action, taking on Houston Dash. This was a matchup of teams looking to find their footing this season, and drastically improve from year’s past, but don’t call this a mid-off. Okay, maybe you can in the overall, but we still saw not one, but two bangers for goals, as the youth movement for Los Angeles looks to be taking shape as the team secure their second win in a row.

With the Champions Cup dreams dashed, LAFC now turn their full focus to domestic competition as they now have the long road of climbing the standings of the MLS in hopes of putting themselves in the best position come postseason. While its still far too early to worry about that too much, with the club currently in 9th and in some of their worst form, it’s something to keep in the frontal region of your mind going forward.

When you gaze upon the NWSL standings, three teams stand out amongst the rest as the only remaining teams unbeaten and unblemished to start the new season. Kansas City Current, Orlando Pride, and Angel City FC are the last of the unbeaten and while one of those teams definitely looks and feels a lot different than the other two, they are all without loss all the same.

We have dreamed a dream, but now that dream is gone from us. Last night the Concacaf Champions Cup run for LAFC came to a crashing end in Miami as the team couldn’t keep Messi and company from overcoming a two goal deficit. It was always going to be tough for Los Angeles on the road against one of the best teams in the competition, but they felt like they too are on of the best teams despite the recent run of inconsistent form.
