    The Drennan Barnsley Blacks machine continued its relentless march towards perfection as the team won this year’s Angling Trust Team Commercial National at Lindholme Lakes over the Easter weekend – their third team win of the the year!Scoring 30 points from their 10 anglers, Barnsley just got the nod over outgoing champions Team UK on 33, with Nytro Quaker picking up the bronze medals with 35 points.

    It’s already been a winning start to 2025 for the mighty Drennan Barnsley Blacks side and that run continued in this year’s Angling Trust Sensas Challenge on the Gloucester Canal with top spot for the A team – by just half a point from their B side!Fished across two days to international rules, 33 teams of five anglers took part this year with the added incentive of a place in this Summer’s World Club Championships in Ireland for the winners.

    The 2025 SilverFish final was one of the closest ever with just two pounds separating the top four!Off the back of a tricky winter, it was great to see a few silvers on the feed and with temperatures soaring on Saturday March 8, Meadowlands Fishery gave us a great final.

    Team England boss Mark Downes has named his team to compete in this year’s European Championships in Slovakia, with a new face added to the side to do battle on two very different venues. Joining the squad is Frankie Gianoncelli who will travel as a reserve but will be ready to step in if needed across the week. He’ll line up alongside established internationals William Raison, Steve Hemingray, Matt Godfrey, James Dent, and Cam Hughes.

    After a disappointing result in 2024’s Angling Trust Winter League final, Drennan Barnsley Blacks made no mistakes in this year’s big clash, lifting the silverware once again with a magnificent 39 point score across their 10 anglers. That put them four in front of local side Daiwa Tackle & Bates, with another Eastern-based team Sensas Hot Rods grabbing the bronze medals on 48 points.
