Team England boss Mark Downes has named his team to compete in this year’s European Championships in Slovakia, with a new face added to the side to do battle on two very different venues. Joining the squad is Frankie Gianoncelli who will travel as a reserve but will be ready to step in if needed across the week. He’ll line up alongside established internationals William Raison, Steve Hemingray, Matt Godfrey, James Dent, and Cam Hughes.

After a disappointing result in 2024’s Angling Trust Winter League final, Drennan Barnsley Blacks made no mistakes in this year’s big clash, lifting the silverware once again with a magnificent 39 point score across their 10 anglers. That put them four in front of local side Daiwa Tackle & Bates, with another Eastern-based team Sensas Hot Rods grabbing the bronze medals on 48 points.

Kent angler Tom Wells has won the Angling Trust Sea League Final 2025 after one of the closest finishes in its 26 year history. Hosted on a chilly promenade at Silloth, in Cumbria, the Deal-based rod finished the day with 228 points courtesy of 14 fish – a mix of flounder, whiting, and dabs – the largest a 34cm flounder.

World Feeder Champion Steve Ringer has been named alongside well-known anglers Adam Wakelin and Pemb Wrighting in Tommy Pickering’s Angling Trust England Freestyle Feeder squad for 2025. The trio will join the Ringer Baits-sponsored team captain Phil Ringer, along with team regulars Alex Dockerty, and Wayne Bartholomew in a six-man line up which will head out to fish the World Championships in Portugal this July.

Saul Page Tackle have scooped sea angling’s biggest team match event – the Angling Trust Teams of Five Final 2024 – with a dominating performance on the beaches around Hythe and Deal, in Kent. The overnight leaders in the two-day competition with an impressive 24 points from Day 1, the Kent-based lads cemented their position at the top with a solid Day 2 performance, scoring 41 points for fourth on the day. They ended the weekend event on 65 points which was 15 ahead of runners up Arno Hooks.
