This publication is produced by the Union of Ontario Indians (UOI), which was founded in 1949 to serve as the political representative for the communities that make up the Anishinabek Nation.

By Rick GarrickFORT WILLIAM — Fort William First Nation’s Manifesting Movement Yoga sessions with Michelle Derosier were a success on Tuesday evenings from April 1-29 at the Fort William First Nation Gymnasium. “It’s been great,” says Derosier, a yoga instructor, storyteller, filmmaker, and Eagle Lake citizen in Treaty #3. “We had a nice group out tonight (April 22) and people seemed to really love the practice.”Derosier says she had eight participants at the April 8 yoga session.

By Rick GarrickWINDSOR — The Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB)’s Ryan Hooey is raising awareness of the importance of annual eye examinations for people with diabetes for Vision Health Month in May. “One of the great things that’s happening is there are some programs out there in Ontario that will do eye screening for diabetic retinopathy,” says Hooey, manager of major gifts at the CNIB and citizen of Keeseekoowenin First Nation in Manitoba.
