He was also a featured speaker at this year’s Ontario First Nations Technical Services Corporation (OFNTSC) conference, which concluded on May 13 in Niagara Falls, Ontario.

Chief LaRocca is one of six individuals that will receive an honorary degree from Toronto’s York University at its spring convocation ceremonies, which begin June 12. Chief LaRocca has served her community as Chief since 2013. Prior to that, she was a councillor for her community for five years.

Thanks to $400,000 in provincial funding the Uchucklesaht Tribe is able to move forward on several climate-related projects. The British Columbia government is providing the funds to the Nuu-chah-nulth First Nation via its Disaster Resilience and Innovation Funding (DRIF) program. This funding will in part help create projects that will assist communities with their ability to mitigate climate-caused disasters.
