Planting Fields Foundation unveiled the completion of two stages in a $2 million project last Friday. The project includes upgrades to walkways, signage, and visitor materials. The Muttontown and Upper Brookville Police Departments will receive a $960,000 state grant for combining their departments in 2022. “It is, I understand, the largest award ever paid out under the shared service program, which I think was started in 2017, in Nassau County,” said Upper Brookville Mayor Elliot Conway. The Muttontown and Upper Brookville police departments combined forces two years ago. The state said the two villages saved $1.6 million in the program’s first year.

The Syosset Woodbury Chamber of Commerce presented checks for $2,500 to Tempo Group and the Children’s Orchestra Society, Syosset-based nonprofit organizations that assist children. “Over the course of the year, we raised funds that we agreed to split between the two of them,” said Russel Green, president of the Syosset Woodbury Chamber of Commerce. Green said a chamber board member chose the two nonprofit organizations.

Aaryan Vira and Kaitlin Ho have been named valedictorian and salutatorian of North Shore High School’s Class of 2025. Vira has the highest weighted grade point average in the class and Ho has the second-highest, district officials said. “Aaryan and Kaitlin are two exceptionally talented students,” said high school principal Eric Contreras in a press release.
