KARACHI: The Sindh government in a letter to the Indus River System Authority (IRSA) vehemently protested over opening of the Taunsa-Punjnad Link Canal. “The IRSA has opened the TP Link Canal despite 50 percent shortage of the river water in Sindh,” the government wrote in its strongly worded protest letter to the river authority. Sindh has demanded of the authority to keep the link canal close. “TP link canal should be closed immediately as Sindh has even no drinking water,” the letter read.

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has ‘decided’ to contact Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) over the canal project on Indus River, ARY News reported on Friday, citing sources. As per details, to secure support for the resolution submitted in the National Assembly against the construction of canals, the PPP will reach out to different political parties and independent lawmakers as well.

In order to safeguard the environment, the Sindh government has decided to enforce a comprehensive ban on the production, sale, and use of plastic bags throughout the province, including Karachi. According to the Sindh Environment Department, the government has decided to slap ban on plastic bag usage after a formal approval from the provincial cabinet on April 15. The department further stated that any violation of the polythene bag ban will be punishable by law.

April 3 (Reuters) – The United Kingdom appears set to host the 2035 Women’s World Cup after FIFA President Gianni Infantino on Thursday described its interest as the “one valid bid” for the tournament. England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales announced last month that they would submit a joint bid to host the finals. England’s men won the World Cup for the first and so far only time when the country hosted the finals in 1966. It has never staged the women’s tournament.

KARACHI: President Asif Ali Zardari was rushed to hospital in Karachi after his health deteriorated late Monday night, ARY News reported citing sources. According to sources within Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), the president, was shifted to a private hospital in Karachi. PPP sources said revealed that President Zardari is currently undergoing treatment, with doctors conducting necessary medical tests to assess his health.
