Asia Undercovered was established in 2018 by international journalist Nithin Coca with a clear mission: to bring to light the Asian trends, individuals, and narratives that often go unnoticed in global discussions. The founding of this platform was inspired by the 2016 election of Donald Trump, which further limited the already minimal coverage of Asia in many English-language media outlets, a trend that has only continued to decline.
