Atchison Globe

Atchison Globe

The Atchison Daily Globe serves as a community-focused newspaper in Atchison, Kansas, publishing content twice a week. It also has a digital platform to reach a broader audience. Founded in 1874 by E. W. Howe, the newspaper changed hands several times over the years. In 1951, the Howe family sold it to Paul Allingham and Winnie Allingham, who were both editors. The Allinghams transferred ownership to Thomson Newspapers in 1979, which then sold it to American Publishing in 1993. Today, it is owned by the News-Press & Gazette Company. A tragic event occurred in 1989 when the newspaper's publisher, Larry Sarvey, was shot and killed at his home. Despite investigations, the case remains unsolved.
