    In response to your editorial criticizing city council members for doing their job, let me correct your slanted information. Sheetz applied for a special use permit, or SUP, for the corner of Bernath Parkway and Airport Highway. They did not have a “right” to build there. The plan commission staff approved the SUP with 57 conditions, including being closed from midnight to 6 a.m. The commission voted 2-2 with one member abstaining.

    After almost 20 years on one job, I’ve had a lot to think about, and without a doubt I know it is my time to go. For those of you who might not know, Friday, Dec. 29 marks my last day at the Atchison Globe. I am retiring from duties of reporting.
