BCTV
OUR MISSION: To empower individuals and foster community connections through media. VISION: To be an essential civic media center; the primary source for community information. CORE VALUES: We prioritize Transparency, Collaboration, Inclusivity, and Excellence! These principles guide us as we seek to improve continuously and find innovative solutions, both as individuals and as a collective. Berks Community Television (BCTV) is a nonprofit organization under 501(c)3, dedicated to serving the residents of Berks County. As one of the oldest and most consistently active cable access organizations in the United States, BCTV has enabled countless individuals to engage in meaningful dialogues within our community and beyond. Since the 1970s, when we pioneered the first split-screen live interactive cable programming, BCTV has remained at the forefront of community media, utilizing multimedia technologies to connect local residents with relevant issues, information, and ideas. BCTV's mission focuses on empowering individuals and engaging communities through media. Looking ahead, the organization is actively pursuing innovative ways to enhance accessibility and broaden its reach, while encouraging participation from a more diverse audience. This effort is supported by hundreds of volunteers who contribute as hosts, producers, camera operators, committee members, and board members. In today’s evolving media environment, there is a growing demand for locally-driven citizen information, and new collaborations are enabling community media to flourish in Berks County. BCTV stands as a cornerstone of civic engagement, committed to providing access to information, promoting education, supporting free speech, ensuring government transparency, and creating a space for individuals and organizations to engage in discussions that shape our community and keep Berks County informed and active. Community media is produced by and for the people of Berks County. Residents are encouraged to share their stories, photos, and videos about events, issues, and activities happening in Berks County.
