PAX Health has acquired New Castle, Pa.-based Richardson Psychiatric Associates. The outpatient psychiatric site serves adults, adolescents, children and families, according to an April 17 news release. PAX Health is backed by California private equity firm HCAP Partners. The company formed PAX Health in 2024, when it acquired three behavioral health providers. The company acquired Smithtown, N.Y.-based Harris Psychiatric Services in January.

Fewer than one in five Medicare enrollees with opioid use disorder received any medication treatment, according to a report from HHS’ Office of Inspector General. The report, published April 15, examined access to buprenorphine for Medicare beneficiaries in 2023. That year, the number of providers prescribing buprenorphine to Medicare Part D enrollees increased by 32%, but the overall share of enrollees receiving treatment remained low.

New York City-based NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln is piloting a new care model designed to support patients with opioid use disorder after emergency department visits — part of a growing effort to integrate addiction care more effectively into behavioral health services. Through the care model, patients treated for opioid use or nonfatal overdoses at Lincoln Hospital’s ED will be connected to a team care team that will follow them for up to a year post discharge.

Brentwood, Tenn.-based Lifepoint Behavioral Health and Indianapolis-based Community Health Network are building an inpatient facility in Westfield, Ind. Construction on the 120-bed behavioral health facility will begin in 2026, according to an April 15 news release shared with Becker’s. The facility is expected to open in 2027. Community Health Network and Lifepoint Behavioral Health launched their joint venture partnership in February.

CMS is proposing a 2.4% bump in payments to inpatient psychiatric facilities in 2026. The agency published its proposed payments for inpatient psychiatric facilities April 11. The proposed increase would be slightly lower than the 2.8% increase inpatient facilities received in 2025.
