The key link in the Mornington Trails Network between Moorooduc and Mornington has been realigned back to the original plan of a trail along the old rail line corridor. The long-understood rail trail concept was to extend the existing rail trail from Moorooduc Station, a logical and economical solution that would attract many riders. However, when a draft masterplan was published, the route was shown on a totally different alignment away from the scenic rail corridor.
Toowoomba cycle path construction begins

Construction is set to begin on a new cycle path in central Toowoomba, enhancing active transport facilities for locals and visitors to the Queensland region. The Queensland Government's Department of Transport and Main Roads is constructing a 3m-wide shared path on Karrool Street between Glenvale Road and Goode Street. The shared path will be connected with a path for people walking on Goode Street, including a raised pedestrian crossing for people on Anzac Avenue crossing Goode Street.

Central Coast Council in New South Wales is seeking feedback on the final stage of the Tuggerawong Shared Pathway. The pathway is a key active transport project in the Central Coast region. Stage 5 proposes a 1.45km shared path along the Tuggerah Lake foreshore from Palmer Street to Don Small Oval. Once complete, it will form part of a scenic route around the lake and enable greater access to local schools, parks, shops and recreational areas.
Brisbane Story Bridge active transport protest blocked by court

A planned protest which would have shut down all six lanes of Brisbane's troubled Story Bridge during peak hour this morning was blocked by a court following police action. The demonstration, scheduled for 8am on Friday 30 May, was organised by active transport advocates pushing for one of the bridge's six lanes to be dedicated to bike riders and pedestrians while footpaths remain closed. Police asked Brisbane Magistrates Court to stop the protest citing safety concerns.
Wagga Wagga endorses rail trail

Wagga Wagga City Council has voted to formally endorse the Wagga Rail Trail concept and form a project steering committee – crucial milestones in bringing the trail to life. The Wagga Rail Trail is a proposed shared, off-road trail connecting the centre of Wagga to Ladysmith. The trail would be 21km long, sealed and largely following the disused Wagga to Tumbarumba Rail corridor, linking the CB, Equex, Governor's Hill, Brunslea Park, Forest Hill, the RAAF Base and Ladysmith.

Flinders Lane closure

Part of Flinders Lane will be closed for about 10 days for electrical works. CitiPower will be undertaking trenching works from 26 May to 29 May at the intersection of Flinders Lane and Market Street. Works will then move to Market Street (southbound lane, towards Flinders Street) from 2 June to 6 June. Works will be between 7am and 5.30pm each day. Traffic control will be in place to safely guide vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians around the work area.

It has identified 96 projects through Ringwood, Croydon and surrounding suburbs that could contribute to a network of links and connections that would attract more people to use bicycles for travel. It is seeking your help to prioritise these projects so that is can better plan the provision of active transport facilities over the next 10 years.
