Black Nerd Problems

In the summer of 2007, Omar Holmon and William Evans crossed paths in a city that was unfamiliar to both of them, amidst a crowd of strangers. While the details of their initial meeting may not be crucial, what matters is that they formed a strong friendship. Years later, they teamed up to create a website dedicated to sharing insights and discussions about popular, nerd, and geek culture, specifically from the viewpoint of People of Color. This platform officially launched on May 15, 2014, and has been growing ever since. We invite you to explore and enjoy the content we offer—there’s always something fresh and exciting to discover!

Guilty Gear Strive: Dual Rulers is a new anime looking to deepen the world Arc System created with Strive. While GG is a well-loved fighting game series, the anime feels precisely like the narrative moments that pop up between fights. Dual Rulers is just like playing Guilty Gear: Strive. The Blerdosphere has been abuzz with anticipation for the animated adaptation of Iyanu. YouNeek Studios and Dark Horse Comics’ Yoruba-inspired graphic novel is about to hit the small screen in a big way. Black Nerd Problems had a chance to sit down with the show’s creators and chat about teaming up with Lion Forge Animation and the road to bringing an all-African voice cast to Cartoon Network and Max. Iyanu is slated to premiere in the United States on April 5th, 2025.

No ‘Small’ ConsThere are no ‘small cons’, only small minds. Wherever two or more Blerds gather, something sacred is birthed. For so long, Black folks who were enthralled by the greater popular culture were isolated and ridiculed for their interests. But fam, it’s 2025, and we no longer have to live like that! There are whole conventions designed with Blerds in mind. One of the most prominent in the country, BlerDCon! The theme for 2025 was “Thrilla” and it was a blast.
