LEBANON, Va. – The finals of the VHSL Region 2D softball tournament will be an All-Mountain 7 District affair. Wise County Central defeated Lebanon 4-1 and Lee High bested Richlands 3-0 in win-or-go-home semifinal matchups at Shelia Adams Field on Tuesday. The Warriors of Wise Central (14-10) used a three-run fourth inning to snap a 1-1 tie and wound up ending Lebanon's 10-game winning streak. Sophie Fleming opened the decisive inning with a single and Macie Gibson was hit by a pitch.

Kayleigh Jackson, Tommie Wiles and Jonna Tuell were on duty in the dispatch center when the “most dreaded call” came through. “It was very chaotic,” said Sheriff Chip Shuler, who had been on the phone with one of the dispatchers and could hear the radio traffic coming through.
