LEBANON, Va. – The finals of the VHSL Region 2D softball tournament will be an All-Mountain 7 District affair. Wise County Central defeated Lebanon 4-1 and Lee High bested Richlands 3-0 in win-or-go-home semifinal matchups at Shelia Adams Field on Tuesday. The Warriors of Wise Central (14-10) used a three-run fourth inning to snap a 1-1 tie and wound up ending Lebanon's 10-game winning streak. Sophie Fleming opened the decisive inning with a single and Macie Gibson was hit by a pitch.

Tazewell Va. – Some property owners in the county may get help with flooding issues from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. During its May meeting, County Administrator Eric Young told the board of supervisors that three properties have been identified as candidates for funding under a new $10 million program the agency has. He said the program offers funds for flood resistance elevation improvements to properties deemed to be repeatedly flooded and have flood insurance.
