The “No Kings” assembly — part of a national anti-authoritarian protest movement — featured handmade signs and slogans likening President Donald Trump to a dictator.

CLARK FORK — In 2024, travelers from 18 states — as far north as Edmonton, as far east as Florida, and as far south as Hawaii — visited a remote North Idaho town of just 600 residents. BONNERS FERRY — As a young girl, Kara Cafferty used to attend Free Fishing Days with her dad, Leonard Eby. So did Kasandra Lecrenski with her parents. Decades later, the families still return, but now with a new generation of young anglers in tow. Matthew Cafferty, 5, caught the first fish of the day, a rainbow trout over 13 inches. He and his mother Kara, a Bonners Ferry High School alum, made the 10-hour drive from Driggs to spend Saturday morning at the Rotary Lions Den Park.

BONNERS FERRY — Brent Hudson spent 37 years guiding big game hunts in Alaska.  At Saturday’s Living in Bear Country Safety Course, he taught those attending safe practices involving bears and told bear encounter stories, including one of his own, a brown bear attack on Kodiak Island, Alaska. Hudson's near-fatal encounter occurred on a rare occasion in which he was not carrying a high-caliber firearm.

At the final Boundary County School District meeting of the 2024-25 school year, board members recognized teachers and student scholarships, finalized summer maintenance plans and discussed a potential partnership with a new local non-profit aiming to open a community recreation center. School Board Chairman Ron MacDonald announced the names of about 25 teachers achieved 70% proficiency in reading and math with their students.
